【望月玉泉(1834~1913)】 幕末~明治期に活躍した京都出身の日本画家。 望月玉蟾(1692~1755)を祖とする望月派の四代目。 幸野楳嶺(1844~95)と共に京都府画学校の創設に参加し、京都画壇の復興に努めた。 父・玉川に画を学び、四条派と岸駒(1749~1838)に始まる岸派の画法を折衷し、 写生を基調とする温和な画風を形成し、特にその芦雁は評判を集めた。 A Kyoto-born Japanese painter active during the late Edo and Meiji periods. Fourth generation of the Mochizuki school, founded by Mochizuki Gyokusen (1692~1755). He participated in founding the Kyoto Prefectural Painting School alongside Kono Bairei (1844~95), working to revive the Kyoto art scene. He studied painting under his father, Gyokusen, synthesizing the techniques of the Shijo school and the Kishi school founded by Ganku (1749~1838). He developed a gentle style grounded in sketching from life, particularly gaining acclaim for his depictions of reeds and wild geese. |
