【中島華陽(1813～1877)】 幕末・明治に活躍した京都出身の画家。 名は富寿。字は文質。通称は中島重輔。 華陽はその号。別に皆春館とも号した。 画法を横山華山に学ぶ。安政２年の京都御所再建の際、絵画御用を命じられた。 明治10年(1877)歿、65才。娘婿は富岡鉄斎。 A painter from Kyoto active during the late Edo and Meiji periods. His given name was Tomihisa. His courtesy name was Bunshitsu. He was commonly known as Nakajima Shigesuke. Kayo was his artistic name. He also used the name Kaishunkan. He studied painting under Yokoyama Kazan. During the reconstruction of the Kyoto Imperial Palace in 1855, he was commissioned as the court painter. He died in 1877 (Meiji 10), aged 65. His son-in-law was Tomioka Tessai. |
