【廣田百豊(1876~1955)】 石川県出身の日本画家。本名は宰(つかさ)。通称才一郎。 石川県尋常師範学校(現・金沢大学教育学部)を卒業。 石川県内で小学校の校長などをつとめたが、京都に出て、竹内栖鳳に師事し、画業に打ち込む。 文展に出品し、褒状を受けるなど活躍。 大正期には日本自由画壇の結成に参加。 以後、同展など在野で活動した。 A Japanese-style painter from Ishikawa Prefecture. His real name was Tsukasa; he was commonly known as Saiichiro. He graduated from the Ishikawa Prefectural Normal School (now the Faculty of Education at Kanazawa University). After serving as an elementary school principal and in other positions within Ishikawa Prefecture, he moved to Kyoto, where he studied under Seiho Takeuchi and devoted himself to painting. He was active in the art world, exhibiting at the Bunten and receiving commendations. During the Taisho period, he participated in the founding of the Japan Free Artists’ Association. Thereafter, he was active in independent art circles, including through exhibitions organized by the association. |
