【山村耕花(1886~1942)】 明治時代から昭和時代にかけての日本画家、浮世絵師、版画家。 尾形月耕の門人。本名は豊成。耕花と号す。東京生まれ。 初めは、尾形月耕に師事する。後に、東京美術学校日本画科卒業。 日本美術院同人となり院展を中心に活躍。 1916(大正5)年、渡邊庄三郎の勧めで版画制作を開始。 初作「初世中村鴈次郎の大星由良之助」が好評を博して以降、役者絵で人気を博す。 享年57。 A Japanese-style painter, ukiyo-e artist, and printmaker active from the Meiji to the Sh?wa periods. A disciple of Ogata Gek?. His real name was Toyonari; he used the artist name K?ka. Born in Tokyo. He initially studied under Ogata Gekko. Later, he graduated from the Japanese Painting Department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He became a member of the Japan Art Institute and was active primarily in the Institute’s exhibitions. In 1916 (Taisho 5), at the recommendation of Watanabe Sh?zabur?, he began creating prints. He gained popularity for his actor prints. He died at the age of 57. |
